At HanGo, we take your data privacy seriously. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Data Collection
We collect information necessary to provide our educational services, including your progress, learning statistics, and preferences.
2. Progression and Leagues Management
We collect data on your performance (completed lessons, mistakes, experience points) to place you in the Joseon Leagues hierarchy (from Commoner to King). This data is visible on public community leaderboards.
3. Images and AI Content
Our application uses Artificial Intelligence image generation services to illustrate sentences and vocabulary. Interaction metadata with these images may be processed to improve educational content relevance.
4. Security and Authentication
We use Django REST Framework and token-based authentication (JWT) to secure your account. Your email and password are encrypted and stored safely. We only use this data for account persistence and access recovery.
5. Data and Account Deletion
You have the absolute right to delete your account. By executing this action from the app: Your records of completed lessons, your KREMIUS vocabulary deck, your diamonds, and your current position in the Joseon Leagues will be permanently deleted. Associated physical files (profile picture) will be deleted from our servers. Note on subscriptions: Deleting your HanGo account does not automatically cancel active subscriptions via Apple App Store or Google Play Store. These must be managed by the user in their device settings.
6. Third Parties and Data Transfer
For the proper functioning of HanGo, we share minimal data with: RevenueCat: To manage your Premium subscription status. Google/Firebase: For usage analytics and secure storage. AI Services (Voice and Image Processing): We use secure third-party providers to generate visual material and evaluate pronunciation accuracy using artificial intelligence. Design prompts and voice snippets sent to these services are strictly anonymous, used exclusively to resolve the functionality of the current lesson, and are not used to train third-party AI models with personal information.
7. Microphone Use and Voice Data
To use the pronunciation validation features, HanGo requests access to your device's microphone. Captured voice recordings are securely sent to our servers solely for the purpose of evaluating and scoring your Korean pronunciation. These audio snippets are processed transiently, are not permanently stored on our servers once the evaluation is complete, and are not used to personally identify users.
